Working closely with the DJCS and appointed consultants and contractors, Fairbrother helped identify the scope of works, lead the design management and delivered the project, over two stages, under budget.

Scope of the works was undertaken progressively, with the aid of Fieldwire. Mark-ups were initially produced by Fairbrother in consultation with DJCS and Guymer Bailey Architecture (GBA). These where then issued to the consultant team and contractors concurrently.

As the project progressed, twice-weekly meetings were held on site with DJCS and GBA, to focus on current issues and review progress and quality. This collaborative approach made decision-making simple and effective.

Being a fast-tracked project with an ever-developing scope posed a number of complexities for the team. Safety was the highest priority, in accordance with the Victorian health guidelines, COVID-safe measures were implemented, including social distancing between workers, touchless sign-in stations and constant cleaning of high-contact areas.

Quality was diligently managed through ITP’s, punch lists and Fieldwire Defect Lists, while contractors were selected based previous performance, their ability to work collaboratively and resource the project appropriately.

Cost reporting was prepared weekly, with the client constantly aware of the financial direction of the project.

Overall, the successful outcome of the project was a result of the hard work undertaken by the team, client and the consultants. By achieving the dates requested by client, Fairbrother assisted the DJCS in finding relief parolee accommodation during a challenging time.
